About the Artist

Costume_edited.jpg

Sabrina Lopez is a multimedia artist from Texas with an AA in Fine arts and a passion for community engagement. Her personal artwork is focused on women and the stories they hold within. She uses bold linework to flow the eyes across blends of vibrant colors with contrasting highlights. Her work offers an exclusive gaze into her world while also inviting the audience to reflect upon similarities in their world creating a shared world through shared experiences.  She is most known for her community murals under her artist name,  “Rabbit Rye” where she has painted over 85 murals throughout the southern region of North America. She went on to self-publish a book of poetry with digital art and created a fiesta pin to commemorate it all before taking a hiatus to complete her BA in Business.

During this hiatus, she found herself exploring an old passion and began using her aerosol skills to airbrush makeup for companies like Six Flags, Sea World, Shudder, and the 13th floor. Now, she currently designs for local theatres in the area of Hair, Makeup, and Costumes where she is able to create a multitude of characters through the director's vision on legendary stories such as "The Color Purple" (Woodlawn Theatre '22), "Nina Simone: Four Women'' (The Public SA '23), and "Into the Woods, Teen Cast (Wonder Theatre '23).  Through these shows, she is able to explore the world of storytelling and work on characters who live in a large-scale painting brought to life.
